Upwind or downwind?
Upwind: adverb - against the direction of the wind, into the wind.
Downwind: adverb - in the same direction as the wind.
'Gill and Sandra ran for cover
into the woods, keeping upwind of the wolf pack so they were less likely to
leave a trail of their delicious scent in the air to tempt them.'
'In cities, the poorer quarters
are always downwind of the prevailing winds, so they lie in the way of the
smells generated by sewage works, tanneries and other noxious fumes of
civilisation.'
